On June 17, 2023, the 4th generation girl group from Starship Entertainment, IVE, proved their status as Kpop’s most beloved prom queens through a series of performances and games during their fan concert titled “IVE THE PROM QUEENS” at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines.
A New Era in K-pop
IVE, a multi-award-winning girl group composed of Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo, visited Manila as the first destination for their international fan concerts. IVE has performed “After Like” as the opening act of their concerts, which has received one of the loudest cheers from their fans, known as “DIVEs.”
This has been followed by several performances of their b-sides, including “Take It,” “My Satisfaction,” and “Royal.” Additionally, they performed “Kitsch” live for the first time as a group of six.
Unbreakable Bond Between IVE and Manila
After the opening performances, IVE introduced their group and solo members, emphasizing how they learned specific Filipino words to better connect with Filipino DIVEs.
As part of the fan concert, several games were also played among the members, which only fueled DIVEs appreciation and love for the group.
The group showcased their versatility and different sides through their unit performances (WHICH WE DIVES DEFINITELY LOVED).
Wonyoung and Rei performed “Me Too” by Meghan Trainor, Yujin and Liz delivered a beautiful rendition of “Flashlight” by Jessie J, and Leeseo and Gaeul owned the stage with their cover of Blackpink’s “Kill This Love.”
The latter part of the concert featured games between the members and the audience, as well as performances of their popular songs “I Am,” “Love Dive,” and “Eleven.”
During the encore, IVE performed the band versions and remixes of “Love Dive,” “After Like,” and “Not Your Girl”.
This particular part became truly special when the fans played the fan project video, and IVE expressed their heartfelt gratitude through their emotions that night. Especially Rei, who has been emotional during her hiatus, the Manila concert was a significant performance for her after a while.
DIVEs definitely loved and enjoyed the performances and interactions, and will eagerly await IVE’s return to the Philippines. IVE Concert in Manila is a success.
